The automotive and car dealership world has been facing a lot of breakthroughs lately. These discoveries are gradually reshaping the transportation that we use every day. In this article, we’ll cover the many automotive innovations and trends. We’ll also cover what they are and what makes them very fascinating to learn about.

Trends in the Automotive Industry
As stated, we’ll be covering the latest trends that are making huge waves in the automotive industry. Some of these trends are already implemented in some of the brand new vehicles or even in used cars Bradenton, FL. So here are the latest trends in the automotive industry as listed below:
1) AI Entering the Automobile Scene
Artificial intelligence has been making a storm in the car dealership world. The main reason is that AI has made driving much safer. As a result, many car dealerships would want to add vehicles that have these AI features.
There’s nothing better than an AI assisting you in your road trip. Whether to modify the headlight’s intensity or to provide alternative routes, AI will do it for you.
2) 3D Printing for Manufacturing Cars
3D printing opened the doors for speedier car production. Companies can now create a 3D print of their car prototypes to use as a testbed for new models. They can also print automotive parts, accessories, and printed circuit board assemblies for a more sophisticated supercar control panel. Once they’ve settled on the prototype, they can then use it as a basis for the final product. It also gives way to faster manufacturing of different vehicle models.
In turn, these vehicles are then brought over to a car dealership. It also means the dealerships will have more car stocks on hand than before.
3) Biometric Seat Features
A breakthrough in the automobile and car dealership industries has taken notice of is the biometric seat feature. For context, the biometric seat feature uses a technology that scans the driver’s face and palms. The system would then measure anxiety levels and transmit a message to the driver to stop for a bit.
The objective of the biometric seat technology is to prevent fatigue on the road. That aside, it is also an additional layer of safety for the driver too.
4) Analytics and Metrics
Car dealerships will rejoice at this particular breakthrough. Data analytics can assist many car dealers with the health and lifespan of vehicles under their care. Health and lifespan aside, it is also useful for predicting possible sales soon. Car dealerships can use that data to streamline their plans and maximize their profits.
There are two notable examples of this trend – namely the US-based Procon Analytics and the Swiss startup Unit8. Both companies use large amounts of data to provide solutions in automotive financing and business operations.
5) Vehicles on Auto-Pilot
Another breakthrough that’s starting to show up for vehicles is autonomous transportation. Vehicles that drive even though there are no drivers on them! The breakthrough aims to reduce the number of human drivers and reduce transportation accidents.
Majority of the traffic accidents seem to stem from either fatigued drivers or negligence on the road. The autopilot vehicles will also utilize computerized vision and predict pedestrian behaviors.
6) CaaS Implementation
For context, CaaS stands for “car as a service” and its primary goal is to reduce cars on the road. One good example of this case is using the Toyota Tundra as a service vehicle for passengers.
Another good example of CaaS is the US-based startup, Launch Mobility. They have a platform that has a lot of shared mobility solutions. They range from station-based car sharing, shuttle services, and rental programs. They have a dashboard made for business owners to manage their fleet of trucks and service vehicles.
7) Vehicle Connectivity
There are ongoing ideas of using the internet as a means of identifying vehicles and knowing its owner.
The idea is that each vehicle has a unique digital identity. For instance, every car found inside a car dealership is registered with a distinct ID number. The whole idea of the unique ID concept is for both fleet and traffic management. Another advantage to this proposed idea is that vehicles can now share data. There’s a possibility that drivers can now share routes.
8) Electrification of Vehicles
The environmental issues brought forth by fossil fuels have resulted in the call for electrical vehicles. It is a noteworthy breakthrough but some obstacles require clearing first. For electric vehicles to finally see widespread use and sale in a car dealership – issues such as battery and pricing need to be solved first.
While we tend to associate Tesla with electric cars, there are two startups that we’ll mention. They are also introducing the concept of electrified vehicles to their parts of the world in their way:
First up is the US-based Lordstown Motors Corps. They currently have the EnduranceTM electric pickup truck. This vehicle is meant to be a sturdy service or work vehicle. It also comes with fewer moving parts in comparison to most commercial vehicles which makes it easier to maintain.
The other startup is ChargeX which is based in Germany. They have a modular EV-charging solution that allows parking spaces to double as charging stations. The platform mentioned is the ChargeX Aqueduct. It is an easy-to-install module that can recharge vehicles in parking spaces. The Aqueduct also recognizes the power requirements of each car and adjusts the charging speed for every vehicle.
9) Introduction of HMI to vehicles
Vehicles on autopilot and AI are already transforming the many cars inside a car dealership. However, let’s not forget HMIs or human-machine interfaces. HMis allows drivers to interact with vehicles through the use of voice or haptic feedback. You can order the vehicle to maybe open up the sound system or provide an optimal path to your destination.
The Future Is Bright for the Automotive World
These are the many breakthroughs in the automotive world that have been making very huge waves. These discoveries would revolutionize not only the cars in a car dealership but also future generations of vehicles. From AI to the electrification of vehicles, who knows that maybe one day, the vehicles we’ll see are similar to those we see in futuristic sci-fi movies.
